You do not need a production crew to get great food photos. Propellr Photography shoots affordable food photography for small restaurants, bars, cafés, food trucks and pop-ups across the Milwaukee area, on location in your own space. You can stay open while we work. We just need a couple of tables and a kitchen that is slow enough to plate for the camera.
People eat with their eyes first. Good photos make your website more inviting, your social posts more scroll-stopping, and your DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub listings more clickable. Every shoot comes with a plain price, one finished image per dish, delivery-app crops, and full usage rights for your own marketing. No day rates, no licensing surprises, no nickel-and-diming.
Your menu is the first thing most customers look at, and a photo next to a dish sells it better than any description. We photograph each item the way it actually comes out of your kitchen, styled lightly so it looks its best without looking fake.
Hero shots of your signature dishes for the top of your website and your Google Business Profile.
Consistent, clean photos of the whole menu so every item looks like it belongs to the same restaurant.
Drinks and cocktails shot at the bar, where the light and the backdrop already do half the work.
Print-ready files for table tents, menu boards and window graphics, and web-size files for everything else.
Delivery apps are picky about photos, and listings with photos get ordered more. Every dish we shoot is delivered with a square crop that meets the current DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub guidelines: sharp, well lit, the food centered and filling the frame, on a clean background with no hands, logos or text. Upload them and they get approved.
We have photographed menus for DoorDash merchants through their photography partner program, so the files arrive named and cropped the way the platforms expect.
Already offered free DoorDash photos? DoorDash gives some merchants a free shoot, and if it fits your needs, take it. The catch is that those photos are shot fast, shot for DoorDash, and often licensed only for DoorDash. Ours are yours to use on your website, your menu, Uber Eats, Grubhub, Instagram and Google, for as long as you like.
Pick a package and a time. Send the dish list and a day that works. You can be open during the shoot. Pick a stretch when the kitchen is slow enough to plate for the camera, such as before open or between lunch and dinner.
Your kitchen cooks, we style and shoot. We set up lighting across about two tables, then your team plates each dish as it normally goes out. We handle the light, the angles and the small styling touches. Setup takes the longest. Once the lighting is in place the dishes move quickly, and a visit averages about 10 dishes an hour.
Editing in days, not weeks. Every image is color-corrected and retouched, then cropped for print, web and the delivery apps. Delivery within three business days.
Files you actually own. A download link with full-resolution and web-size versions, organized by dish, with a license that covers your own marketing on any channel. See our Policies & Licensing page for the details.
On location at your restaurant, bar, café or truck. Your kitchen cooks, we shoot.
Every package includes retouched photos, delivery-app crops, and full usage rights for your own marketing.

Extra dishes beyond your package are $15 each. Pricing covers on-location shoots within 25 miles of Milwaukee.
Can’t host a shoot? Ask about the studio option, where we photograph a to-go order. Some dishes travel better than others.
Social videos are short vertical clips edited for Reels, TikTok and Facebook, delivered without music so you can add your own audio.
Social feeds burn through content fast. One shoot can fill a month of posts: the dishes, the pour, the cheese pull, the sauce going on. The FEAST package adds five short vertical videos, shot during the same visit and edited for Instagram Reels, TikTok and Facebook, ready for your own audio.
Propellr is based in Mequon and shoots across the Milwaukee area: Bay View, the Third Ward, Walker’s Point, Brady Street, Wauwatosa, Shorewood, Whitefish Bay, Brookfield, Waukesha, Oak Creek, Cedarburg and Port Washington. Food trucks and pop-ups can meet us wherever they are set up. Trips beyond 25 miles add a small travel fee, confirmed before the shoot.
Seasonal specials, a new cocktail list, a revamped brunch: book a return visit at the same per-dish price and keep your website, delivery listings and social feed current without re-shooting the whole menu.
Propellr Photography has shot commercial and real estate photography in Milwaukee since 2011. Food is a one-person job done right: one photographer, portable lighting, and a kitchen that keeps cooking. There is no crew to feed, no big-studio overhead, and no agency markup, which is how the prices on this page stay where they are. You get the same care a big-studio shoot gets, at a price a neighborhood restaurant can justify.
Studio food photography in Milwaukee typically runs several hundred to a few thousand dollars per day. Propellr prices per visit instead: $150 for 10 menu items, $225 for 20, and $350 for 25 items plus five social media videos. Extra dishes are $15 each.
About 10 dishes an hour, including setup. The first stretch goes to building the lighting and the photo area. Once that is in place the dishes go quickly, so a 20-item shoot is usually a two-hour visit.
No, you can stay open. We need about two tables for the lighting and photo area, and a kitchen that is slow enough to plate dishes for the camera, so before open or between lunch and dinner works best. If hosting a shoot does not work, there is also a studio option where we photograph a to-go order, though some dishes do not travel or present as well that way.
Your kitchen does, exactly as it goes out to a customer. We handle the light, the angles and the small styling touches: a wiped rim, a fresh garnish, a napkin moved out of frame. If you want a dish to look a certain way, plate it that way and we will shoot it.
The apps want a sharp, well-lit photo of the dish on a clean background, centered and filling most of the frame, with no people, hands, logos or text, delivered as a square or landscape image at their minimum resolution. Every dish we shoot comes with a crop built to those rules.
If free photos solve your problem, take them. The trade-off is speed over quality and a license that usually covers DoorDash only. Photos from Propellr are yours to use on your website, print menus, Google, Instagram and every delivery app, and they are shot to make each dish look like a reason to visit.
You can, and some restaurants do. The risk is that AI food does not look like your food, and customers notice when the plate that arrives does not match the picture. Delivery apps are also starting to flag images that misrepresent a dish. A real photo of your real plate is the safer bet.
Yes, for your own restaurant’s marketing on any channel, for as long as you like. The only thing the license does not cover is reselling the photos or handing them to another business. Full terms are on our Policies & Licensing page.
Send the dish list ahead of time, have the ingredients prepped so each plate can come out in a few minutes, set aside about two tables for the lighting and photo area, and have a couple of clean plates and glasses in the style you normally serve in. That is it.
