Milwaukee Real Estate Photography

Propellr Photography is an owner-operated studio based on Milwaukee's north side. Doug Schommer shoots, edits, and delivers every listing himself, whether it is a Bay View bungalow, a Riverwest duplex, a Third Ward loft, or a commercial building on Capitol Drive. Interiors, exteriors, FAA-licensed aerials, Matterport tours, and measured floor plans can all be covered in one appointment, and MLS-ready galleries come back within 24 hours, often the same evening. Text a property address and square footage to (414) 215-0204 for a quote and available shoot times.

Milwaukee's Narrow Lots Change How Exteriors Get Shot

The city's housing was platted on narrow lots, which creates a photographic problem the suburbs do not have: on a lot thirty feet wide with a neighbor eight feet off the property line, there is nowhere to stand that fits the whole front elevation without pointing the camera up and bending the house backwards. Exteriors here get shot from across the street with a longer lens and corrected for perspective, not fixed with a wide lens and a tilt. Framing also takes some discipline about what to exclude, because the neighbor's siding, a utility pole, and three parked cars are all competing for the frame. Alley-facing garages, side entries, and rear yards get their own coverage, since in Milwaukee those are the details buyers actually ask about.

Two-Flats, Polish Flats, and the Rental Market

A large share of Milwaukee's inventory is two- to four-unit buildings, and investor buyers want a different set of photos than a family buying a single-family home. Each unit is shot and delivered as its own clearly labeled set, along with the shared entry and stairwell, basement, laundry, mechanicals, alley access, and parking. A measured floor plan per unit answers the bedroom-count and layout questions that otherwise generate a dozen agent emails, and vacant units can be scheduled separately from occupied ones so tenants only get one interruption.

Drone Work Inside the City Limits

Flying legally in Milwaukee takes more preparation than flying in the outer suburbs. Much of the city sits inside the controlled airspace around Milwaukee Mitchell International, with Timmerman Field adding its own controlled airspace on the northwest side, so a compliant flight means a Part 107 remote pilot pulling LAANC authorization before takeoff, and in some grid squares the approved ceiling is low. Density is the second constraint: downtown and on the near side blocks, launch points and flight paths have to keep the aircraft clear of people, traffic, and adjacent property. Both get checked against the specific address at booking rather than discovered on site. What a flight includes is on the aerial drone photography and video page.

Lofts, High-Rises, and Condo Buildings

Third Ward and Walker's Point lofts and the Prospect Avenue and lakefront high-rises all live or die on the view, and the view is exactly what a single exposure destroys. Expose for the room and the skyline turns white; expose for the window and the room goes black. Those frames get bracketed and blended so the interior and the view both read properly, which for a lakefront unit is most of the value of the listing. Buildings also come with logistics: freight elevator reservations, front-desk notice, and association rules about tripods, lighting, and drones. Those are worth sorting out at booking. For out-of-state buyers, a Matterport 3D tour is usually the difference between an inquiry and an offer. For buildings still going up, the same method documents the build itself. Historic Homes: Cream City Brick, Plaster, and Original Woodwork

Milwaukee's older stock, the Brewers Hill Victorians, Bay View cottages, Washington Heights and Enderis Park bungalows, and the Cream City brick duplexes scattered across the north and south sides, needs careful color handling. Dark stained trim pushes an entire frame warm, cream brick reads yellow or gray depending on the light, and leaded and stained glass blows out long before the room is exposed. Every interior is bracketed and white-balanced room by room instead of run through a preset, so the wood looks like wood and the plaster stays neutral.

Scheduling, Turnaround, and Pricing in Milwaukee

Most Milwaukee listings can be photographed within a day or two of booking, and same-day slots come up regularly. Galleries are delivered within 24 hours in MLS-sized and full-resolution versions, with HDR blending, window pulls, blue-sky replacement, and reasonable edits included rather than billed separately. Occupied homes and tenant-occupied units are scheduled around the household. Pricing runs by square footage, so see real estate photography pricing for current packages or send an address for an exact number.

Milwaukee Real Estate Photography FAQ

How fast will I get my Milwaukee listing photos?

Standard delivery is within 24 hours of the shoot, and rush delivery is available when a listing has to go live the same day. Most shoots can be booked one to two days out.

Can you fly a drone inside the city of Milwaukee?

In most places, yes, with preparation. Because much of the city falls inside controlled airspace tied to Mitchell International and Timmerman Field, each address is checked and LAANC authorization is pulled before the shoot. Every flight is made under an FAA Part 107 certificate with commercial insurance.

Do you photograph duplexes and small apartment buildings?

Yes, and frequently. Each unit is delivered as its own labeled set along with shared spaces, basement and mechanicals, parking, and alley access, so the building can be marketed whole or unit by unit.

How much does real estate photography cost in Milwaukee?

Pricing is based on square footage and the package you choose, with add-ons for aerials, Matterport, floor plans, twilight, and video. Full details are on the pricing page, or send an address and square footage for an exact quote.
